April news from room 206

April brings the third quarter to an end, it’s hard to believe we’re ¾ through the school year! If you haven’t already, please make sure to sign up for report card pickup on Thursday, April 16th!
We will be starting new units in Math, Reading and Social Science this month. In Math, we will take a brief look at area and multiplication, and then focus on fractions. Keep an eye on your student’s home folder for math newsletters, hopefully they are helping to explain what we’re learning in class!
In Reading Workshop we will take on informational reading, working to understand how to get the most out of expository nonfiction. We will finish our Social Science unit on the civil rights movement this week, when we come back from break we will begin studying early Chicago. Look for info later on this year about a third grade historical play!
