February news from room 206

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the school year! February marks the start of several new units: in Reading Workshop we will focus on biographies, which compliments the work we’ll be doing in Social Science this quarter on the U.S. Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. In Math, we will finish our study of place value and problem solving with units of measure and move on to multiplication and division with units of 0, 1, 6–9, and multiples of 10. I will continue sending home the Math News math parent letter with information about each topic we’re working on.
The halfway point also brings us to our 100th day in school, and we’ll be working on accumulating 100 acts of kindness to celebrate! We’ll have a class party on Friday, February 13th for the 100th day and Valentines day--if you’d like to send your student with treats please let me know!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me! I am available before and after school nearly every day.
