January news from room 206

Welcome back! With the recent school closings due to extremely cold weather, I encourage you to sign up to receive messages from my Remind account: Remind is a one-way text messaging and email system I use to send occasional messages about what’s going on at Barry. It’s easy to join, and your personal information is completely confidential. Please visit www.remind.com/join/lurie to subscribe!
I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things, and we’re off to a great start in math as we explore measuring weight and liquid volume. I will be sending home newsletters with helpful information about each topic we cover, explaining many of the methods we’re using to solve problems.
Exciting news from CPS this month: In conjunction with The Chicago City of Learning (CCOL), CPS is launching CPS Connects–an online platform that provides students free virtual learning opportunities, as well as live activities outside their schools and neighborhoods! Driven by the student’s specific interests, the experience allows students to take ownership of their own learning experiences. What can students do? Claim Your Account (Jan. 5‐30th)!!
  1. Have their CPS student ID # ready (located on a student’s report card or ID card)
  2. Create their account and begin searching for interesting learning opportunities
